SAE Scholarships to be Awarded to D-Photo Winners

1 Jun 2017

SAE Creative Media Institute is thrilled to partner with D-Photo to offer scholarships to the prizewinners in the magazine’s Sigma Amateur Photographer of the Year Awards.

The D-Photo Sigma Amateur Photographer of the Year competition is New Zealand’s largest amateur photographic competition, which is promoted via D-Photo magazine, the country’s largest selling photographic print title.

SAE was honoured to be asked to support the competition for the first time this year, which in 2016 received 5,373 entries during the three-month competition. The magazine expects an even greater response this time around.

The competition is now open for entries, with 11 divisions available. SAE is sponsoring the Junior category and the newly-added category - Video (other categories include Action, Aerial, Creative, Landscape, Macro, Monochrome, Nature, People and Travel).

For both categories sponsored by SAE, the winners will receive an SAE Auckland Scholarship, with the following discounts from course fees from any SAE programme:

1st prize: $1000

2nd prize: $750

3rd prize: $500

SAE campus director, Dr Suzette Major, hopes that the competition will inspire entrants to pursue and develop their creative leanings even further.

“There’s real excitement at SAE about being involved with this project, especially as we are able to sponsor this year’s new competition category, Video. We felt it had great synergy with the Bachelor of Film Arts degree we offer here, and the scholarships we are offering are a reflection of our commitment to helping students develop their passion for film into a formal qualification in film making.”
