SAE Fees

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees consist of a Registration or Administration fee, and Programme fee.

Fees are published for each course following advice from the New Zealand Government as to the level of EFTS funding available each year, and are correct at the time of publication, but may be subject to change.

Additional Administration Fees

These fees only apply to issuing replacements or reprints; the originals are issued at no charge.

Fee Protection

All fees are held by an independent trustee, as required under secttions 235A and 235B of the Education Act 1989. This arrangement has been accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as meeting the requirements of the Education Act 1989 and the Student Fee Protection Rules 2013.


No refunds will be issued after the census date. For domestic students, this is the eight calendar day following the commencement date of the course, and for international students this is the tenth working day following the commencement date of the course.

Students choosing to withdraw prior to the relevant census date may receive a refund of the Programme Fees, but not the Registration or Administration Fees.

Payment Options

Student Loan

New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents who have held that status for 3 years or more are able to apply for a Student Loan to cover tuition fees for NZQA accredited courses.

When applying for a SAE course, you will also be sent a StudyLink information pack.

Monthly Instalments (EMP Students)

As the SAE Certificate in Electronic Music Production is not NZQA accredited, and therefore not eligible to be covered by a student loan, students may choose to pay monthly in arrears.
Details about this payment option are sent out when the enrolment is confirmed.

Annual Instalments (International Degree Students)

International students may pay for each year of a degree programme separately.

Payable prior to commencement of the programme.  Payable by Automatic Payment or Telegraphic Transfer into the Trust Account*.

*Please use the correct Code and Reference details as supplied on the Automatic Payment Authority form or Fee Protect form to ensure we can identify payment with the correct student.
